Specifier: Meyer, Sherer & Rockcastle, Ltd. / Minneapolis, MN
Installer: NEWMAT USA LTD. / W. Babylon, NY
Project: Designed by MS&R Architects of Minneapolis, this renovation of the Moody Student Center Cafeteria included 7 large pie-shaped stretch ceilings at various heights.
Newmat provided White Matte / M15 microperforated membranes ranging from 600 to 1,300 square feet each utilizing White Classical perimeter profiles, together with custom built light coves at the perimeter of the lower areas.
To achieve this design challenge of the perimeter light coves, 4” x 12-1/4” aluminum c-channels wrapped with Newmat M15 stretch ceiling membranes were used. The acoustical performance of this system (.75 NRC) was obtained with the microperforated ceiling membranes and a few acoustical baffles suspended in the plenum.
