BANK OF AMERICA, New York, NY (2008) – LEED CERTIFIED

Specifier: Gensler Architect / New York, NY
Lighting Designer: HDLC Lighting Designer / New York, NY
Installer: NEWMAT USA LTD. / W. Babylon, NY

Project: For Bank of America Tower in New York, Gensler Architect and HDLC Lighting Designer chose NEW/MIRODAL, the Newmat customized stretch ceiling panel system, to be installed in numerous areas, including trading floors, conference rooms, elevator lobbies and an auditorium.

The goal of having a translucent stretch ceiling back-lit system, easy accessibility, and high acoustical performance was attained by combining the NEW/MIRODAL system with NEW/LIGHT (translucent membranes) and NEW/ACOUSTIC (micro-perforated membranes). Newmat fabricated and installed custom panels with two layers of micro-perforated translucent membranes, torsion springs, and custom channel dividers used to house sprinkler heads and/or down lights. The torsion spring panels of various sizes and shapes make the system accessible by anyone at any time, and the stretch ceiling micro-perforated membranes provide the level of acoustical absorption needed for these types of applications.

The lighting design behind the membranes results in an evenly lit/glowing system, and the entire NEWMAT installation is in perfect harmony with the slick, smooth look of the space.
