Project: Playboy Enterprises’ newly renovated office complex includes a “Bunny” light sculpture wall linking the floors in the 2-story atrium. The goal was to merge art, architecture and light using the company’s 50-year old iconic logo. To achieve this objective, one layer of NEW/LIGHT translucent membrane was backlit with LED’s, and cherrywood slats were installed in front of the membrane to create the design and give it depth.
In addition, on two other floors a NEW/LIGHT double-layer system was used as a ceiling application in a “bunny ear” design. Linking corporate office spaces with one another, the backlit T-8 fluorescent “ear” starts with its tip at the editorial offices, continues along the corridors, and ends by wrapping around inside the lunchroom, lending continuity to the space as a whole.
