Project: For the new New York office of this global law firm, Gensler, the architect, turned to NEWMAT for a few of their ceiling design requirements.
In the elevator lobby, Gensler needed a highly reflective surface for which NEWMAT provided its L1 white lacquer ceiling membrane with custom penetrations and custom trims to accommodate linear lighting fixtures.
For the reception area, a ceiling system consisting of large acoustical panels with minimal hardware was their design intent, and Newmat provided custom fabricated panels with concealed custom grid, and the panels are covered with our M15 white matt membrane with 1″ of fiberglass backing.
Finally, for two conference rooms, they needed a translucent backlit ceiling system to create the overhead lighting, but with custom penetrations and custom details for spotlighting as well. NEWMAT provided its NEW/LIGHT double-layer system with its T0B white translucent membrane, and in one of the conference rooms created custom penetrations for pendant light fixtures, while for the other we supplied and installed custom circular acrylic drums to surround the recessed spotlight fixtures and maintain a glowing area inside the drums.
As you will see from the photographs of this space, the NEWMAT systems are not only functional and able to respond to a specific technical need, but they are also a design element fitting perfectly in this sleek corporate office.
