Three-Tiered Curved Ceiling Canopy

THE WRIGHT AT THE GUGGENHEIM MUSEUM

In creating this dynamic and playful 1,600 square foot restaurant, Andre Kikoski designed the ceiling element, consisting of a three-tiered curved canopy, to flow across the room and extend part-way down one wall. To achieve this design, Newmat constructed a custom metal skeleton wrapped with Newmat M15 / White Matt membrane, and light fixtures were installed between the tiers to create continuous cove lighting. The overall Newmat ceiling/wall element mimics the motion of the spiral ramp running through the main gallery and becomes the main focal point of this spectacular space.
